Taiwan Economy Forum, originally named Industry of Free China, was established in 1954. Over the past six
decades, we have been specifically named as a top publication by international organizations, government agencies,
famous university libraries and think tanks in Taiwan and abroad, and we have also received long-term support
from schools and readers all over the world. We would like to thank you for your support.
¨Always Strive for New Things, Never Follow Behind Trends©has always been our core value. Initially after our
establishment, the government lacked professional periodicals on economics. Therefore, we set our position on
economic development theory and practical platform to publish important economic topics and theories for the
world. Using Taiwan's economic statistics as important reference, we have become the must-read reference by
the experts for their research during the booming era. In 2003, we have changed our name to Taiwan Economy
Forum and continued to act as an important medium between government and citizens on strategies and education.
With the gradual growth of academic economic periodicals in Taiwan, Taiwan Economy Forum came out as a
renewed publication in July 2007. We shifted from academic theory orientation to strategy communication and
academic exchange, including planning strategy focus, documentation, special reports, views of experts, columns
of economic development, activities documentation, strategy updates, etc. We used a focal column to analyze
important topics in economic development and reported the status and movement of government policies and
economy in hope of becoming people's important resource of understanding national economy and policies.
Now we're ready for another transformation! As the digital era is happening, people can easily retrieve information.
Getting policy information from periodicals is no longer the main stream. Since we are an important medium for
the National Development Council's external communication, we believe that meeting the readers' needs of new
generation in current society will help to reinforce the communication between the government and citizens on
economic policies. Therefore, we will re-organize our editorial direction. In the future, we will include focal topics
and deep analysis on important policies of the country, publish on social media sites online, and involve wider
perspectives and views from the industrial experts. It will make citizens better understand the implementation
mindset and execution of the country. To launch this repositioning, we will stop the enquiry for submission on
¨THESIS ©column in October 2016, We apologize for any inconvenience caused to all experts and scholars.
Taiwan Economy Forum's Volume 14, Number 4 will be brought to the readers with a brand new look. We look
forward to further support, comments, and care from old and new readers alike.
